Pregnancy can be accompanied by a host of discomforts In early pregnancy, many women feel nauseated, fatigued and suffer from headaches. As baby grows, swollen ankles and feet, heartburn and insomnia tend to occur. Although these types of discomforts are generally innocuous, they still tend to be very uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are natural remedies women can use that may bring some relief.
Nausea is one of the most common complaints of pregnancy. Although it generally subsides after the first trimester, some women still report feeling ill well into the second and third trimesters. Some of the causes of nausea are unknown, but possible reasons include hormonal changes and anxiety. Some ways to prevent nausea include eating healthy, regular mealsthat prevent the stomach from ever being too empty or too full, avoiding fattening foods. Under a doctor's supervision, the use of vitamin B6 may also help in preventing nausea. Once nausea has already kicked in, many women find relief by drinking ginger tea and using sea bands.
Almost all women feel fatigued while pregnant. Fatigue is most pronounced during the first and third trimesters, but the demands of pregnancy combined with the demands of everyday life can encourage fatigue to strike at anytime. Getting to bed early and attempting to work a daily nap into each day can help, but women should also take care to not rest too much. Sometimes resting too much can make fatigue worse, and a doctor-approved exercise plan can provide a great boost of energy. Even a short walk around the block can get the metabolism moving and lead to a lasting feeling of energy. No matter how tired women feel, caffeine should be avoided, especially in excess. Although some doctors approve caffeine in moderation, some studies link the use of caffeine with complications.
